Preparing for a Weight Loss Retreat
Preparing for a weight loss retreat is similar to preparing for any vacation resort experience – almost. Because you will be working out and changing your eating habits significantly, there are a few things you can do make the first few days of your weight loss retreat more comfortable and effective.
If you have questions about how to prepare for your 3-day, 7-day, 14-day or 30-day weight loss retreat at FitRx, call us today.
Preparing for a Weight Loss Retreat: Do Not Binge
Most people think that a weight loss retreat is about denying themselves the foods they like with a crash diet. As a result, many will choose to spend the week before leaving for their weight loss retreat in “binge mode.” They’ll eat everything and anything, seeking out all their favorites in bulk before it’s time to tighten their belt at weight loss camp. Unfortunately, this means a rough few days when you start your weight loss retreat. Your body will still be processing what you’ve been eating. You’ll feel sluggish and tired. And the new diet and exercise regimen will be a shock to your system, making it more difficult than it has to be. Don’t binge!
Preparing for a Weight Loss Retreat: Get Lots of Rest
While you’re eating healthily (or at least normally) before your weight loss retreat, you should also get your rest. Every day at your weight loss camp, you will work out in the morning with a personal trainer and spend most afternoons at a hot yoga class or another fitness class. There’s time for a third cardio workout in the evenings and, in between, you’ll be eating great food to keep your energy up. While there’s time built into your schedule to enjoy the spa or go for a swim as well as get a good night’s sleep, you want to make sure that you’re ready to jump right in and take advantage of all of the weight loss retreat amenities available. Getting lots of rest before you come will help you do that.
Preparing for a Weight Loss Retreat: Pack Well
You’ll want to bring everything with you that you will need during your weight loss retreat stay. That means lots of comfortable clothes for night time, a couple outfits for wearing around the resort, and lots of workout clothes. You’ll want the workout clothes to fit your body (nothing oversized), and you’ll need a pair of workout shoes that fit you well and cushion your feet to support you as you work out. Bring a few personal items from home, a good book to read by the pool or in the lounge, and a journal to keep track of all the new information you’re learning. Top it off with the right attitude and you’ll have everything you need for a successful weight loss retreat!
