Tax Deductions
Your FitRx weight loss retreat might be eligible for tax relief depending upon the cost of your stay and your income.
In 2002, a new tax code created by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) allowed men and women to deduct the cost of some residential weight loss programs as a medical expense. Men and women classified as obese (according to the U.S. Government, obesity is defined as being approximately 30 pounds or more over what is considered a healthy weight) can now deduct associated expenses over 7.5% of their adjusted gross income. Spouses and children are covered under the plan as well.
NOTE: Only those individuals who are attending the weight loss retreat for medical reasons are eligible to receive these tax benefits.
Obesity can lead to a number of serious health conditions, including:
- Heart Disease
- High Blood Pressure
- Stroke
- Diabetes
- Arthritis
- Cancer
- Back Pain
With over one quarter of the population of the United States (54 million people) classified as obese, there has never been a better time for the government to provide tax incentives to men and women who are serious about improving their health and losing weight.
