Medical Evaluations
Your Customized Medical Evaluation
Unlike many other weight loss retreats, the FitRX experience is a medically supervised program. All Weight Loss Retreat customers staying 7 days or more receive a medical evaluation upon arrival, which is included in the FitRx program cost. In addition, you will receive a comprehensive FitRx Medical Dossier that evaluates your blood levels, provides specific recommendations including any relevant prescriptions, and includes insightful information to help you better understand how and why your body works.
Who Performs the Medical Evaluation?
Mark A. Calarco, DO, MBA, MRO, FitRx Medical Director performs all medical evaluations. To read more about Dr. Calarco’s training and experience, click here.
How Long Does an Evaluation Take to Complete?
Your evaluation will be quick and painless. On average, most medical evaluations take between 60 to 90 minutes to complete.
Where do FitRx Medical Evaluations Take Place?
Your medical evaluation will take place with Dr. Mark Calarco, FitRx Medical Director on site at the FitRx fitness facility.
Medical evaluation benefits include:
- Safety. To ensure that your treatment or regimen will not exceed what your metabolism or internal health can sustain.
- Results. A medical evaluation helps assess your specific needs, so you can get the most out of the Weight Loss Retreat.
- Customization. Every body is different, and therefore every person requires a unique wellness plan. The FitRx medical evaluation helps you set customized goals for your program and make sure that your needs are being met throughout.

The following is a sample from a FitRx Medical Dossier:
- Your total cholesterol level is 190 mg/dl (ideal 140-190).
- Triglycerides (“fat”) are slightly elevated at 162 mg/dl (ideal <150).
- LDL (“bad cholesterol”) is elevated at 118 mg/dl (optimal <100).
- HDL (“good cholesterol”) is 40 mg/dl (optimal >60), a suboptimal value. HDL protects your arteries from forming blockages, and lowers your risk for cardiovascular disease.
- Post-menopausal women have the same heart attack risk as men since they are no longer protected from the anti-inflammatory effects of a healthy estrogen level. Additionally, cholesterol levels that are too high or too low can adversely affect your sex hormone functions. Your levels suggest increased cardiovascular risk.
